Sainsbury's Woolton Liverpool
Sainsbury’s Woolton Liverpool has presented its local Bishop Martin Church of England Primary School with a Community Grant for £120.00. This will help to support towards the cost of purchasing outdoor and gardening equipment.
The Sainsbury’s Community Grant scheme, helping charitable groups in the local community, is funded by sales of ‘Bags for Life’. Sainsbury’s recently announced plans to reduce the number of
plastic single use bags they give away by 50% by April 2009. So for customers at Sainsbury’s Woolton Liverpool buying a ‘Bag for Life’, this means that they are not only doing great things for the
environment, but are also making a contribution to their local community.
The store manager, Bethan Wilson, said: ‘our store is at the heart of the local community and it is important that we can do as much as we can to support it. When we heard about Bishop
Martin Church of England Primary School we were really pleased to be able to help out.’
Last year alone the Community Grants scheme provided £159,000 worth of donations, nominated by store managers and colleagues from stores nation wide.
